EA Sports Active: A Wii Game to Get You Shape

by Jack Hueymanland

Wii Fit has been a huge bestseller! It has been hard to find the balance board anywhere for sale because it has sold out again and again. A new game that makes use of the balance board if coming out from Electronic Arts, called EA Sports Active.

EA Sports Active is similar to Wii Fit's included game, but it has more features. It is geared towards a working out all of the parts of the body, by utilizing workouts beyond the scope of the balance board. Many people think this game will replace Wii Fit's included game.

The features list on EA Sports Active is fantastic. Lower and upper body movement are expertly tracked. By strapping the included nunchuk-holding leg strap to your leg, you can get on-screen feedback as to whether or not you're doing the workouts correctly.

Now, any leg movements will be tracked, just like the Wii Remote tracks hand movements. You'll be able to workout with others since another strap is included in the box of the game.

The game includes a personal trainer, who coaches you through the game. Instead of having a bulky weight, you get a resistance band in the game. This will help you to grow more muscle which burns fat.

You'll get feedback from the personal trainer in the game based on how well you do. The goal of the feedback is to get you to a better fitness level then you're at right now. All of your workouts will be tracked.

One of the best parts of the game is the Challenge Mode for 30 Days. The hope of that mode is to get you to workout for only 20 minutes a day for 30 days to see some excellent results. Your daily workouts are tracked, along with your intensity of workouts, and how many calories you burned.

There's a ton more information about Wii Fit's EA Sports Active video game. You can see collaborator videos, the release date, preorder information and more at my site below. Be sure to preorder the game, as it will probably be sold out for a few weeks after release.

Buy Nintendo Wii If and Only If…

February 13, 2009 by Wii Editor

Nintendo may not be known for its pioneering ways when it comes to its consoles, but the new Nintendo Wii is trying to steal other gamers' attention to its newest features.  Should you get it?  Here, we will present its best features and hopefully you'll know if the Nintendo Wii is for you.

The good bits:
Its controller is revolutionary.  It offers a motion-sensitive play option that lets you punch, drive, swing or do most required actions using movements from your wrist instead of just plain pushing a button.  Of the three top contenders for gameplay kingship, Nintendo offers the most uncommon gameplay.

The Nintendo Wii is also for you if you like retro-games.  Its library includes some of the most nostalgic classic favorites from both Sega and Nintendo itself.  So you can expect something for every member of the family.

The Nintendo Wii is also the lightest of the top three, weighing in at only 3.84 lbs., as opposed to its competitors' 10 to 11 lbs. weight.  If you have your older GameCube controllers and games, Nintendo Wii can still make use of them.  The new release also features a built-in SD slot you can use for storage.

You will also like Nintendo Wii if you are conscious of the price.  Nintendo Wii's creators also promised that the unit's price will go no further than $250 and they made good with that promise.  That makes Nintendo Wii the cheapest of the top 3.

Also some good news, Nintendo outsold Sony's PS3 by more than 250,000 units and came close by 35,000 units to topseller Xbox in November.  If you want to go by the numbers, that's good indication that the Nintendo Wii is for you.

The bad bits:
If you want advanced audio like those surround sound features found in other consoles, Nintendo Wii won't give it to you.  It also lacks a few bells in the graphics department.  In order to make full use of the wireless controllers, you will need a wired receiver device nearby and the controller, for all its uniqueness, has a slight learning curve.  It also gobbles up battery power faster.  Plus, the Nintendo Wii can't play your DVDs or CDs.

What's the bottomline?
The Nintendo Wii is for you if its lack of graphical oomph doesn’t bother you.  If you don’t mind learning how to operate its motion-sensitive controller or the fact that it doesn’t have the mean rep of other gaming devices because of its family-friendly nature and appeal should make it a top choice.

Nintendo Wii Zelda – Are You Ready to Rule Hyrule?

February 6, 2009 by Wii Editor

The much-awaited release of Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has finally arrived and with a new version specially designed for expectant users of Wii, the newest innovation from Nintendo.

The Storyline of Nintendo Wii Zelda

A young wrangler named Link, who grew up in a small rural village, received orders from the mayor requiring his attendance at the Hyrule Summit. This esteemed honor however concealed an ominous destiny for Link: darkness has blanketed the whole kingdom of Hyrule, and his entry to the Twilight Realm instantly turned Link into a wolf.

Link’s sudden transformation made it easy for his opponents to capture him, but thanks to the opportune intervention of a mysterious woman called Midna, Link was saved and together, they formed a quest to rescue Hyrule from evil…before it was too late.

What to Expect from Nintendo Wii Zelda

Master Sword Slashing – In Nintendo Wii Zelda, you’ll still be able to slash your sword to fight and chop the appropriate things – or creatures – in sight just like how you did in previous Zelda games. The difference, however, is that this time the sword that your character holds mirror the movements that your hand makes via the motion-sensitive Wii remote control unit.

The Wii Remote, thankfully, is easy to use as a sword. All you’ll need is a slight flick of your wrist for the short jabs of your sword and a bit more force for the more powerful sword moves.

Master Fishing – This aspect of Nintendo Wii Zelda was one of the several features that were obviously built to take GREAT advantage of the gaming unit’s motion sensitivity. Thankfully, once more, using the Wii Remote as a fishing rod isn’t difficult at all. Before you know it, you’ll be rearing back and hooking your rod up and down to catch the biggest fish in the history of Hyrule!

The Present is a Blend of Old and New Flavors – As you explore the vast territory of Hyrule, there will be moments that playing the game will feel like a nostalgic walk down memory lane while there are other moments where you’ll feel absolutely challenged to navigate through unchartered territory. Whether this is good or not, however, depends on you alone.

It’s a Big Big World – Hyrule is quite enormous and accompanied with dungeons that are even bigger than usual. Exploring the kingdom however is an interesting – and yes, fun – experience and which you can make even more interesting if you view it through a wolf’s eyes.

The Verdict: Although it doesn't achieve an overall perfect score, Nintendo Wii Zelda is still a beautiful game made more beautiful because of Wii.
